Nostalgia at Silver Moon Drive-in

In these times when movie fans go to cineplexes instead of cinemas, many people would assume that drive-in theatres would be a thing of the past. Strangely, there are a good number of drive-in theatres in good old America, still offering that good old feeling of watching a movie in the good outdoors, on a massive silver screen. One of them is the Silver Moon Drive-in Theatre located in Lakeland, Florida.

The Silver Moon Drive-in Theatre was built more than 60 years ago. Back then, it would only cost 35 cents per person to get in. Since it was equipped with 357 R.C.A. speakers, the Silver Moon was touted as the most advanced drive-in theatre in Florida. On many a night, a moon of gleaming silver would bathe the movie lovers, transfixed with the stars of the silver screen, or otherwise. Thus, the name was fitting. Despite the screen being destroyed by a tornado in 1950 and Hurricane Donna in 1960, Silver Moon survived, bringing a lot of joy to a great number of people. Now, it has two screens, with enough space to accommodate up to 500 cars. Admission is $1 per child from ages 4 to 9 and $4 per person for ages above 10.

Of course, an outdoor movie experience will not be truly complete without the good old American snacks. From homemade pizzas to appetizing hot dogs to nachos and popcorn, Silver Moon offers the most tempting, delicious fare. For people who fancy a good old bargain, they can also go to the Silver Moon flea market which runs on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday. Who knows? Perhaps, a good silver buyer would find a good silver bargain there.

To get a whiff of good old American nostalgia, drive up to Silver Moon or one of the many drive-in theatres. Right now, you can sell silver and enjoy good old instant cash for silver!
