Silver, once a rather old-fashioned and at times controversial antibacterial agent, is being used more and more as a germ fighter. Silver is all around you everyday, although you may not be aware of all of the uses for silver. Silver is one of those metals that has so many uses. If you didn’t know, silver is more than just a pretty, shiny metal. It can be used to fight off bacteria, so it is very versatile, in that sense. Some silver gets fashioned into silver earring, silver bracelets and silver necklaces. Other silver gets sent out to do the tough job of getting rid of bacteria.
Recently Swiss scientists have found that they can release an amount of silver particles that corresponds to the amount of present bacteria using a polymer film. What these scientists learned was that for bacteria, calcium is a nutrient. So the scientists release calcium phosphate along with particles of silver. Since the bacteria feed off of calcium, once these two things are releases, the bacteria go for the calcium. In doing this, the bacteria unwittingly release the silver that silver particles get rid of the bacteria.
This is the classic bait and trap situation. The scientists used silver to set a trap for harmful bacteria and found that they fall for it.
The release of the bacteria-killing silver is proportioned because the silver only gets released when there are actually bacteria present. The scientists mention that this saves money because they do not have to inundate an area with silver. They can use a controlled amount because the silver only gets released if the bacteria go for the calcium phosphate.
This discovery is great for science, but you do not have to follow this example. You are free to release as much silver as you want. If you want instant cash for silver, then sell silver to a silver buyer and don't hold back. First you can go through your jewelry boxes and drawers, looking for unused and broken silver jewelry. And then you can go throughout the house to find various silver objects that you can sell to get money for silver. Don’t forget about your: silver ice buckets, silver coasters, silver goblets, silver frames, silver napkin rings, silver candleholders, silver vases, silver trays, silver bowls or silver tea sets.
