Here is something you may not have known about silver: it is really into oxygen. Yes, that is right the shiny, grayish metal has a thing for the gas we need to breathe. This may not mean a great deal to you but that is because you may not be aware of all the great things that can occur when silver works in conjunction with oxygen.
Because silver is so into oxygen, it is great building block for superconductors. Silver not only keeps oxygen in its place, it can also be a source of budding oxygen itself. Silver is a very important part of keeping a superconductor running.
What is a superconductor? It is an element or a combination of metals that can conduct electricity with no resistance when it is below specific temperatures. In fact the temperatures at which superconductors must operate are very, very low.
It had been thought that superconductors actually lost some of their powers when they were placed in close proximity to regular metals (metals that do not have the ability to act as superconductors on their own). However, scientists were able to show that the opposite can happen. About six years ago, scientists at in California found that a superconductor actually worked must better after they coated it with silver. After this discovery, more research was done and it was evident that silver was not a hindrance to superconductors, but a help and an excellent one at that.
Apparently oxygen likes silver too since the two stick so close. Silver works as an oxidative catalyst and is used as part of the process to make a range of products including polyester, hydraulic fluids, antifreeze and some plastics.
You may find that silver is very helpful too. When you sell silver to a silver buyer, it can be a catalyst for great new things. You can put your silver jewelry to work for you, rather than leaving this very valuable metal sitting in a jewelry box, unworn and unused. Now is a great time to sell silver. When you sell your silver and get cash for silver that you can put to good use, you will breathe a little easier. So you see, there is more than one way that silver can work with oxygen.
