The Dreaming Series: Silver Coins from Australia

If you are looking for a great series of beautiful silver coins, you can take a look at the Dreaming Series from Australia. Produced by The Perth Mint, this collection features five animals from the great Australian wildlife for the 2009 collection. Extending the success of the Discover Australia series of coins featuring great Australian landmarks, the Dreaming Series will surely thrill coin collectors around the world.

Designed by Indigenous Australian Darryl Bellotti, the coins reflect the essence of traditional Aboriginal art in modern, yet original elegance. As a boy, Bellotti was trained for a life in the bush so he's able to portray the harmony of nature in his distinctive style. It's no wonder that the five animals featured on these silver coins seem so much more alive when contrasted against the colors, which speak of the richness of the Australian wild.

Measuring 40.6 mm in diameter and 4 mm in thickness, a Dream Series silver coin weighs 31.135 g. Each coin contains 1 Troy ounce of pure silver with a very high fineness of 99.9. The coins are assigned a denomination value of 1 Australian Dollar. To be minted from 2009 to 2011, there will only be 10,000 strikes of each animal design in a year, with five new animals slated for 2010, and another five for 2011. Priced at $81.36 Australian dollars, each coin comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. It is packaged in a classy box with timber lid and an attractive outer box.

All the five silver coins share the same obverse which is that of a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. She appears rather solemn but there's no mistaking her because you can see the letters "ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA and 1 DOLLAR" encircling her. On the reverse, you will witness the Indigenous artistry of Bellotti rendered on each of the five animals featured on each of the coins, namely, a kangaroo, a dolphin, a king brown snake, a brolga, and an echidna. On top of each animal, you will see the words "DISCOVER AUSTRALIA" and below, you will see "2009 KANGAROO 1oz 999 SILVER" for the kangaroo coin and "2009 DOLPHIN 1oz 999 SILVER" for the dolphin coin, and so on. The splashes of colors on the coins make them all the more outstanding.

The set of 5 coins in a smart box will make a great gift for any coin collector. You can also prebook the complete set of 15 silver coins featuring all 15 animals for someone truly special. Now, you can check with the best silver buyer to find the best rates for silver.
