In STEP 1, the Girl Scout has to sit down with a project advisor to work out a timeline for STEPS 2 to 4. It's important that the girls learn how to plan and follow through with their plans. In STEP 2, the focus is on leadership so the Girl Scout has to earn some awards as well as show some leadership qualities. The reward is the Girl Scout Silver Leadership Award. In STEP 3, the Girl Scout is challenged to show her entrepreneur spirit, after which, she will be given the Girl Scout Silver Career Award Charm.
STEP 4 involves the 4Bs which can be defined as Become, Belong, Believe, and Build. The Girl Scout is encouraged to improve herself so she can improve the world around her. She will be presented with the Girl Scout Silver 4Bs Challenge Charm after she successfully goes through the tasks. In STEP 5, the Girl Scout has to plan and organize a project which is preferably beneficial to the society. Before undertaking the project, she has to obtain approval from the project advisor. In STEP 6, the Girl Scout is to think and reflect on the project with her advisor. After that, she is to fill out the Girl Scout Silver Award Final Report and send it to her council.
Though it may just be a small insignia on the uniform of a Girl Scout, the Silver Award means a whole lot more. A Girl Scout with the Silver Award is a person who has learned the skills to lead, plan, and organize. She is also resourceful and responsible.
