Gold Wealth of the Pharaohs

 

Here on the Cash for Gold USA gold blog we have already talked and discussed many aspects of gold through out Egypt and places of the middle east; it was even highlighted the richness and lavishness of the rulers also known as the Pharaohs but it begs the question to look a little more deeper into the wealth of the Pharaohs.  Cash for gold trading and sales were just as much a part of the every day commerce and trade back then as well as it is today. It was stated that most of the gold wealth of the Pharaohs came from an area in the Egyptian valley called Wawat off the Nile River. These would usually be in the form of gold blocks, scrap gold and other forms. With this gold it was said that the Pharaohs would use these forms for the elaborate costumes and jewelries.  These wear mostly attributed to Tutmosis the 3^rd.  It was also known that in Ancient Egyptian society that gold coins were are normal part the commerce as a part of their trade as well.

Many Archeologists have gone through this area and found many gold relics in that area.  Most recently in 1989 Angelo and Alfredo Castiglioni from Italy came to the area of Wawat and found out that there was gold quartz fortified soil was contributed to gold trade at that time.  But more than that the Pharaohs were accustomed to being buried with their gold as well in hopes that they would get lavish in it in the afterlife as can also be seen in the mask of king Tut's burial mask! The Pharaohs new the value of gold and didn't hesitate to decorate their halls, temples and ritual rooms as a remembrance of their wealth and it also sent a message to the citizens of the land. While looking at all of this we can see the many similarities in the treatment of gold as a status from back then to now.  One difference about this time though is that precious gold has been made more accessible to the general population in comparison to the past were it was reserved for only the wealthy.  No matter what the status now, the Pharaohs took their love of gold seriously and not only used it for ornament, but seemed to be embedded in the mentality of wealth of the Pharaohs; and it can still be seen in the famous museums today.
