2010 Winter Olympics Silver Coins II

Previously, we covered some of the 2010 Winter Olympics silver coins by the Royal Canadian Mint for the games to be held in Vancouver. Here's more.

In the series of 15 silver coins to showcase events and themes of the Vancouver Winter Olympics, the hologram effect is used to enhance the appearance of the coins. It is manifested on the obverse in crescent moon shape on the left side with the official Vancouver 2010 mascot appearing on top of the Olympic ring symbol and snowflakes. The words "25 DOLLARS" appears somewhere in the other portion where various Olympic events and themes are featured. Some of these include Curling, Ice Hockey, Alpine Skiing, Bobsleigh, Snowboarding, Figure Skating, Speed Skating, and Olympic Spirit. A portrait of Queen Elizabeth II is on the reverse, with the words "vancouver 2010," "CANADA," "ELIZABETH II" and the year of mintage encircling her. With a mintage of 45,000 for each design, the $25 Silver Hologram Series is also available in special collector's case.

Since the Paralympic Winter Games will also be held in Vancouver following the Winter Olympic Games, there is a special 1 oz Sterling Silver Wafer to commemorate both games. Coming in a rectangular shape, the wafer is engraved with the official emblems of the games on the obverse. The reverse is blank because it is not exactly a coin. Canadians should be happy to own the 2008 Sterling Silver Lucky Loonie. On the obverse, a bird takes center stage, splashing on the water. A little below its left wing is the official Canada Winter Sport team logo rendered in all its spectacular colors, above the Olympic rings. The reverse is similar to the 2010 Silver Loonie.

For coin collectors who love the Olympics, these 2010 Olympics silver coins are certainly worth some thought. Down the line, a silver buyer who pays top dollar for silver may be very interested. DO you want some instant cash for silver?
