Silver, Not Sliver

On the internet, fantasy can meet reality, in the most amusing ways. Fans of Sharon Stone may be a little bewildered when they come across her movie "Silver" which was released in 1993. Some may have noticed that she guest starred in the episode "A Little Magic" of the popular sitcom Silver Spoons, but surely, she never starred in Silver. It was actually Sliver.

Whether intentional or not, silver is very different from sliver. Whereas silver refers to a precious metal, sliver usually means "small narrow piece, portion, or plot." As for the movie, Sliver followed the highly successful, controversial Basic Instinct which starred Michael Douglas as Detective Nick Curran and Stone in her immortal role as Catherine Tramell, the hot bodied, cold blooded ice pick wielding killer. When Sliver came out, it's understandable that the anticipation was red hot.

Sliver is a sexually charged thriller in the vein of Basic Instinct, without the magic. Sharon Stone plays Carly Norris, a New York book editor who's just moved into Sliver Heights, a place which seemed so perfect, there must be something wrong with it. William Baldwin plays Zeke Hawkins, the handsome owner of the building who spends a lot of time spying on all his tenants through hidden cameras. Later, he enters into a steamy relationship with Norris. Another important character is Jack Landsford, a novelist. When some people are being murdered in the building, Norris doesn't move out, but turns into a detective, trying to solve the mystery of the killings. After much analysis, she decides that the two prime suspects are Hawkins and Lansford. Is she right?

Commercially and critically, Sliver would just be good enough for the silver medal or lower if compared to the gold standard of Basic Instinct.  Nevertheless, you should be pleased to know that you can sell silver and receive instant cash for silver. Just call this silver buyer. Remember. It's silver, not Sliver.
