As an alternative to what is expected to a record-breaking crowd within the city of Washington DC for the 2009 Presidential Inauguration, many places in the DC area are offering alternative celebrations and gatherings.
Silver Spring, Maryland is sponsoring the Silver Spring Inaugural. Since there will be an unbelievable number of people in DC. Security will be very tight and transportation will be packed, the city of Silver Spring is hoping that some people will stay home in Silver Spring or even travel there rather than brave the colds and the crowds.
Silver Spring's AFI Silver Theatre announced that it will show a live broadcast of the Presidential Inauguration, for free. Silver Spring is also holding its very own Silver Spring/Takoma Park Inaugural Ball on January 20th as well.
This event is being sponsored by several groups including: Buy Local Silver Spring, Downtown Silver Spring, the Silver Spring Regional Center, The Silver Spring Penguin and the Greater Silver Spring Chamber of Commerce.
We certainly applaud the city of Silver Spring for its efforts to creatively use a situation to its advantage. After all, who wants to see people flock into their area and not get a share of some of the revenue that will certainly flow in because of the upcoming inauguration? That was very smart of Silver Spring to make a way to earn revenue and provide people with another way to see the Presidential Inauguration. Everyone simply will not fit into the city of Washington DC.
Now are you busting out at the seams a little? Do you have a lot of stuff? For example, when there is way too much in your jewelry box, do you purge or do you just buy a bigger jewelry box. If you went with the second answer, time to think again. Just the other day a friend of mine was complaining about losing a number of earrings. After she gives up finding the matches, she still leaves the unmatched earrings in her jewelry box.
Why do this? If you go through your jewelry box and notice unmatched silver earrings or broken silver necklaces and silver pins you never wear, why hold on to them? Why not sell your unwanted silver to a silver buyer? Then you can take the cash for silver that you get and have your own celebration.
