Golden Words of Poetry.

The topic of gold has far reached beyond the discussions of fashion and the subject of a weak or strong stock market; there have been many writers and poets that have taken up the task of writing Poems dedicated to that glimmering, shinning and sought after precious metal. One American Poet in particular, Robert Frost took up this task and wrote of the topic of Gold in his well known Poem: “A Peck of Gold”, which was written in 1928. In this poem Robert Frost is highlighting his memories of the Golden Gate Bridge as a Youth as he echoed the words….”Some of the Dust was blowing Gold” and also “Such was the life in the Golden Gate” and finally ending it with the “We must all eat our Peck of Gold” Mr. Frost’s play on words was truly ingenious for this form of precious jewelry

There was also another great Poem dedicated to Gold this and one of them was written by Poet Donald Hall. As the poet says in one of the verses; “Pale gold of the walls, gold of the centers of daisies, yellow roses pressing from a clear bowl….” He really brings to life how he sees the gold shine in everyday aspects of life. And that’s what a lot of past and modern day Poets did when highlighting themes of Gold. Besides this there were also tales of Pirates telling stories in the forms of word and Poetry about their find of gold coins as they sailed and traveled from land to land.

By the very fact that these many different types of Poems about gold exist today it is proof that Gold was more than just a source of fashion accessories.  As this writer explored this topic, he found out that a lot of the Poets were using the theme of Gold as synonymous with “Love”. This writer found this to be interesting and then had an immediate comparison of why people call there 50th wedding anniversary there “Golden Anniversary”. And what’s more coincidental is that many times the Husband and Wife will share golden words usually in the form of some type of Poem; which is really cool.

When we look at how Poets like Robert Frost, Donald Hall, and many others gave such a highlight to this topic and then are able to follow it up with how Pirates and Seaman sang the praise of gold, it is no wonder why today so many people exchange their gold for cash. Or least that’s how it seems to be today. Let’s see if those golden words keep coming.
