Quest of the Alchemist.

 How many times have you heard the word Alchemist or Alchemy for that matter but always wondered as to what it really mean? Well I’ll tell you that it has quite a lot to do with gold. And not just any gold, but the system of turning ordinary metals in to precious gold, scrap gold or even tiny pieces of gold nuggets. Now we have to sit and think about this revolutionary concept, as it was in Medieval Times this Quasi Science was very prominent and could also get you in trouble with the local powers that be at that time.

He, which most of his major works serve as the fundamental basis for what we know today as inorganic chemistry. But besides the Philosophical and Spiritual undertones, the overall point of the Alchemist as to be able to transform common every day metals into precious gold. Whether this as actually done in history remains to be seen, but to those who were doing it, they believed in it with certainty. The process of breaking down the gold was to happen in a process known as ‘chrysopoeia’ and this was to be able to blend all of the metals and to heat them to a point that it would becoming solid gold. What is interesting about this concept is that to those who would have funded this research, it was supposed to have served as a perfect way to sell gold for income, especially in a time when funds were scarce.  Again, even in a time of ancient culture, the idea of selling and buying gold even had a place with the everyday people.

The concept of transforming metals into gold was cross cultural and seemed to have become popular at around the same time. Now I doubt it highly that because you are reading this that you will want to go out and get all your metals that you have and start trying to make gold out of it. However should you have pieces of scrap gold you would be able to ‘transform’ that into something that you could use: extra cash in your pocket. To the ancient Alchemist, the process of processing gold held physical and less financial purpose in their quest.
