Diamond Life: Tribute to Singer Sade.

 

     It must be noted that in this time of  quasi listenable Rhythm and Blues where you can barely make out the words to the music any more, the writer wanted to highlight a musical sensation R&B singer Sade.  One of her most famous songs, "Smooth Operator" highlighted the fast paced and glamorous life of the ultra wealthy during the 1980's and yes diamond jewelry was a part of it. Some young readers here may actually be wondering who this signing sensation  is and trust me she is more than just the occasional song that you hear on modern day jazz stations; her story is truly to be reckoned with.

Her full name Sade Adu and born to a Nigerian Family then later moved to London to study fashion, eventually found her way to loving the musical styles of acid jazz, blues and of course R&B. If anyone remembers some of her early music videos, you could see an array of jewelry styles and even at times some diamond rings in very elaborate styles.  In 1992 Sade and her band released " Love Deluxe"  and then in 2000 she and her band released " Lover's Rock" both albums of course went Platinum and  beyond.  However with all this success, Sade has seemed to have lead an elusive live free of the Paparazzi and the hustle and bustle of media drama. So just what and where has Sade been up to since 2000? Apparently she has been living on the Island of Jamaica after a previous marriage however now has a new family and has daughter now.  It is unlikely that she traded her cash for diamonds that she got over the years, but the long hiatus has left Sade fans wanting to hear more.

As she emerged out of the 1980's through the 1990's Sade set a precedent of R&B music that had such a smooth sense of the music that has hard to be matched since.  And it is wonderful that she is still among us.  Although musical styles change over the years, sometimes singers like Sade and her Band leave an impression on us that most of us will never forget, like seeing a large diamond in the sand!  So for those who  are reading and have never heard these smooth musical sounds, don't hesitate to go and pick up some of those classic CD's or Albums, trust me you'll be glad you did.
